Lets revive the spirit of those such as William Cooper who began The Day of Mourning in 1938. The Day of Mourning was later to become Aborigines Sunday which after William Cooper lobbied the churches to take on a day of remembrance on the Sunday before Australia Day. This really got up the governments nose and they decided it best to stop The Day of Mourning and Aboriginal Sunday and chose to give us our own day being the first Sunday in July so as not to clash with Australia Day celebrations. From this NADOC Day and later NAIDOC Week was born. Thanks for sharing Stephen Atkinson!
