Lighthouse at Cape Trafalgar to be turned into luxury hotel and museum. Discussions are underway to convert the famous lighthouse (1862), following the Spanish Government’s approval of a project to use several of Spain’s emblematic lighthouses for tourism. Cape Trafalgar is a stunning place, with a surf-beaten stretch of sand running for 17km to its north, the lovely reef at Los Caños de Meca to its east, and stunning views across The Strait of Gibraltar to Morocco in the south. Let’s hope that the project is managed with the respect and sensitivity that such a naturally beautiful and historically important spot deserves.
