Like ripples through the surface of water, we believe weve permeated the depths of someone, simply because we see them move. We see the way they fill the spaces between circumstances, and we assume we understand the full darkness beneath their surface. It simply isnt true. People are much more complex than what is easily seen, and Im convinced if one was to spend an eternity with someone; the duration of time still wouldnt be enough to understand their entirety. Whats reflected on the surface is a product of the current beneath, the depth, and the density of whats below. Take time to listen. Ask questions. Never assume. Have the courage to strive to understand. Were prone to believe beauty is found on the surface, because its where the light is reflected and where the sunshine dances. However, true, permeant-beauty, is found within the unknowns below. And a friend who takes time to explore that...is a true friend indeed.
