Linfield have been hit by more injury woe ahead of Saturday’s clash against Ballymena United with news that Alan Blayney has been sidelined once again. Blayney - who had recently recovered from a virus - sustained a foot injury in a reserve team game against Warrenpoint Town in midweek. The former Northern Ireland goalkeeper is currently on crutches and is awaiting an X-ray to discover the extent of the problem. Meanwhile, striker Andy Waterworth returned to action on Tuesday night by scoring two goals for the Swifts - but it now struggling with a back spasm. Waterworth has just returned from a leg injury picked up in the Europa League during the summer. Matthew Tipton also looks like missing out against Ballymena with a groin injury sustained in last week’s victory over Ards. Looking ahead to the visit of the Sky Blues, Jeffrey said: “Ballymena have recorded some mightily impressive results already this season. By all reports, they were very unfortunate to lose 1-0 to Cliftonville last Saturday. “Before that they’ve won away to Crusaders and they’ve also beaten Portadown and Dungannon. “Great results and they’ve done very, very well. Traditionally, this is a very difficult game and Saturday will be as difficult as always. “We take one game at a game and we want to build on our good results against Warrenpoint and Ards. I felt we’ve taken steps forward. We want to keep the run going and take another step forward on Saturday.”
