The #Karnataka #government on Friday said #Aadhaar number is not mandatory for transfer of subsidy amount of LPG #cylinder. It has set a Jan 31 deadline to provide a bank account number, which is a must under the Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG. If the LPG consumer doesnt have an Aadhaar number, she can still receive subsidy in her bank account. Failure to link both will result in consumers paying the market (non-subsidized) price for an LPG refill, food and civil supplies minister Dinesh R Gundu Rao said after a meeting with representatives of gas agencies and oil companies. There were complaints that gas agencies were threatening to disconnect LPG connection of consumers who fail to link Aadhaar and bank account. The minister said its important for consumers to link Aadhaar number to the bank account because that would make transfer of subsidy easier.
