Lithuanian deputy foreign minister receives Indian delegation ------------ On 24 October, Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Neris Germanas met with the delegation of Indian Ministry of External Affairs, who are in Lithuania for the 6th round of bilateral political consultations. The delegation is led by Rahul Chhabra, Joint Secretary of the Central Europe Division. The current level of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and India was discussed at the meeting, with both sides noting the growth and expansion of bilateral contacts during the last 20 years. The parties also agreed to intensify mutual dialogue in different fields, such as politics, economics, culture, and science. Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister expressed Lithuanias hope to have India’s diplomatic representation openned in Vilnius in the near future. Lithuanian Embassy in India was opened in 2008. The delegations also discussed Lithuania-India cooperation in the international fora. Deputy Foreign Minister Germanas expressed his satisfaction with Lithuanias successful performance in the contest for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council last week and thanked India for supporting Lithuanian aspirations.
