Little dream of me… Dear My Friends and Sailors, I am Dilek Ergul…41 years old and have a son as 21 years old…Ordinary person who has very small dream as crossing Atlantic Ocean… Everybody has an ocean to cross…The name of the ocean can be changed…Mine is Atlantic… 1972 Izmir is my home town…At my 8 age, my father bought a fisherman boat as 19,60 feet with basic engine, wooden. I was feeling my self as a happiest human in the world if I was with her…I learnt swimming that year in 60 feet deep sea. My mother wrapped from my waist with rope and I jumped to the sea who was giving lovely, big hugs to me. That was the love at the first sight. During the several years, in any case and any how I was at sea or / and was doing something related with sea..5 years before…I tought by myself ”enough loosing time girl! go!” Last five years I did everything to realise my dream and my dream is coming true step by step… Symina, my old salt, you should come and see her on the waves. Symina and me will cross all Mediterranean sea and then we will go to Gibraltar on 2014 September…After Gibraltar we will go Canaries. After Canaries, we will catch the trade winds and we will be alone in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean…I will find the Carabian Islands,2015 May-June Starting time to go back to home… I will be the first Turkish Woman Sailor who will cross the Atlantic Ocean as a single handed by sail boat. This is not a big deal. The big deal If someone would come after me…If someone understand the GIRLS CAN DO! If someone can understand in my country; Women has plenty of Oceans have to cross in their lives…Even go to school is a problem for them and their families… CROSS YOUR OCEAN!
