Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers vows to keep spending Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits that being rebuffed in his efforts for Alexis Sanchez has no baring on the clubs spending this summer, and he admits he will continue to bring in personnel this summer. Rodgers has already snapped up Emre Can, Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and added Lazar Markovic during the week as his fourth signing. The club have been linked with a host of other players, including Loic Remy, Wilfried Bony and Ben Davies, with the Northern Irishman keen to make up for the departure of star forward Luis Suarez. Suarez signed for Barcelona last week in a deal thought to be in the region of £75 million and with that amount of money in the account, Rodgers boasts an advantage over a number of his rivals. However, Rodgers knows money is not everything and that showed recently when Sanchez opted to join Arsenal over Liverpool, believed to be due to his preference to live in London. Rodgers admits that was indeed the case, but has revealed it has not put him off bringing in quality players. Rodgers told reporters: I don’t think so,” said Rodgers when asked if there is an issue of Liverpool attracting top talent following Sanchez’s snub. “That was one where geography dictated where he wanted to go – simple as that. It’s been the other way. “Lots of players are really impressed by what we are doing as a club and really excited about coming to Liverpool. “It wasn’t due to a lack of ambition by the club. It was about where the player and his family wanted to choose to live. “He’s a fantastic player and would have suited us. His profile would have been great but it was not to be and we move on.” FANCY A STAT? OH ALRIGHT THEN Liverpool’s new signing Lazar Markovic had an 81% pass accuracy in the Europa League last season.
