Ljubljana Airport Boasts Growth Brnik, 29 June (STA) - The operator of Jože Pučnik Airport, Aerodrom Ljubljana, reported a 6% increase in the number of passengers in the first five months of the year compared to the same period last year, while the amount of transshipped cargo was up by 8%. The company, which 75.5% state-owned is on Slovenias privatisation list and will expectedly be sold soon. Aerodrom is doing well this year, better than last year and above plans, the company has said in a press release. Aerodrom CEO Zmago Skobir has previously said that the company could be sold by the summer of 2014. Net profit increased by 5.4% to EUR 857,000 in the first quarter compared to the January-March period 2013. The company posted EUR 5.2m in net profit last year, on par with the year before. Operating revenue was up 1.4% to EUR 31.3m. The number of passengers was up 10.2% to 1.32 million last year. During the summer, passengers will be able to travel to several new destinations from the Ljubljana airport, which s Slovenias biggest, among them Prague and Warsaw. The airport operator also expects to see more charter flight during the summer season, especially to destinations across the Mediterranean. Aegean Airlines is a newcomer in Ljubljana and will provide flights to the island of Rhodes between June and October.
