Local York shops have said that they will give discounts to students whether they are in the NUS or not. DO any of you voting yes actually have an extra card? Why support big corporations instead of the small ones which make York unique? And when you talk about fighting government changes to education, how is passing a motion changing anything? What gets done? What did Demo 2012 do for students? Why doesnt the NUS support the nationwide student movement and the students currently being disciplined by their Universities for protesting? Most people who I know who are active in the student movement arent very happy with the NUS. Also can you elaborate on ways in which they are effective and good for us or are they just buzzwords?
