Lola Falanas Adventure Walk: Hi Josh! Thank you so much for sponsoring another shelter dog in need! Thanks to your generosity, a really special girl named Lola Falana of RACC fame was able to go for a super fun adventure in the James River Park System! Your donation provided Lola with a chance to get out of the shelter, really stretch her legs, and get some good socialization and exercise. Lola was really in this walk for the socialization though, hold the exercise! If any dog deserved to be a character on the old show The Golden Girls, it is Lola! She is a senior pitty, who is full of spunk and sass. I think she may have even rolled her eyes at me at one point in the walk, and she didnt need to speak for me to know exactly what sassy remark she was thinking. Lo is really full of personality, and she is such a joy to be around. She is funny and lively, and had me and my coworkers in stitches with all her funny antics. As soon as she got in my car and onto a giant fluffy dog bed, Lola began celebrating with barrel rolls and summersaults. And that didnt stop! Just the lightest tap of my breaks would send her flying from the dog bed and curiously into my passenger seat. It took a few times for me to learn that this overly dramatic tumble was in fact a ploy to get herself riding shotgun. That alone sums Lola Falana up, witty and clever and hilarious. We began our hike and made sure to take regular breaks in the water for cool downs, and Lola really loved those. Even though she is older, she kept up on the hike just like a trooper. We hiked from Reedy Creek to Belle Isle and over to the lookout. There, Lola officially quit the walk. She plopped down in the muddiest, gunkiest, stinkiest spot she could find, stretched her little frog legs out and didnt budge! I was standing with her, and sunk to my knees in the yuck, but all stretched out, Lola just sat on top of the mud, cooling off and happily smiling at me. When I finally worked myself out and tried to coax Lola to the nicer, clearer water, she didnt budge an inch! I ended up having to scoop her up so she could rinse off and find some cooler shaded water to relax in. Lola sure does know how to relax, and we spent some good time watching downtown Richmond from our beach in the woods. It was wonderful! We hiked back, and Lola was pooped! She had a great time making the most out of her adventure, and loved every second of it! From just a few hours with Lola, I could tell she is a very special girl. Theres never a dull moment with Lola. Even though shes old and really likes to take it easy, she still works humor into her down time. When she was just quietly plopped down in the shallows of the James, not up to much, Id look over at her, and shed smile at me, snort about 8 times, and then go right back to sleep. Lola will make an amazing companion to any person or family. She loves love, and is so confident and sweet at the same time. Its hard to think about how such a sweet and funny old girl could wind up in a shelter, but her next home sure will be some lucky folks! Thank you so much for providing Lola Falana with a really great afternoon. Shes a very deserving dog, and wouldnt have had that much needed break from kennel life if it werent for you! Lola is available with Richmond Animal Care and Control. If youre interested in sponsoring an Adventure Walk for a rescued dog, please visit canineadventure.net/store/sponsored-walk
