Lonely in the Waiting I sit by you, my love, though it has now - TopicsExpress

Lonely in the Waiting I sit by you, my love, though it has now been over thirty years Since you left me here, alone with grief and tears. I talk to you, my love, and fancy that you hear, And even answer me – and you feel near. I know one day, my love, that I will lay me down Beside you there – sleeping safe and sound; In this quiet place, with all the trees around Where over twenty years ago, I laid you in the ground. I miss you, my love, my thoughts are still on you, And yet, there are times when, though my heart is true, I wish that I could know a love again, as deep and true As ours is love, but guilt will then ensue My heart, my love, each time I think of straying. And yet, I wish, indeed I have been praying, That I would not, by my own rule be staying Alone and sad, the dues for love keep paying. And now, my love, I bid a fond adieu, Until the next time I can visit you. This bench is ours; and here we sit, we two Eternal love, until I am again with you.
