Long day of arcade related business. Sold my Golden Tee 2005 to a local guy and got his TMNT in return (Ill fix it up later), replaced the monitor in his Tekken because the original K7000 died (spent an hour fixing that), and spent 3 hours troubleshooting no RED color on my Vs. Super Mario Bros machine. The monitor wasnt displaying and RED color. It ended up running me ragged until I got lucky. -) Rang out the RED wire from the PCB to the monitor. Good. -) Re-flowed the header pin. No RED. -) Traced the path as far as it would take me and tested every diode/resistor in the circuit. No RED. -) Removed the monitor and hooked it up to my test bench. No RED. -) Swapped the color transistors on the neck. No RED. As a last, desperate attempt, I started wiggling the RGB wires at the chassis connection and I got a flash of RED! After probing around a bit near the connection, it turns out the color inverter switch was the culprit. If I tapped on it with my finger, RED became intermittent. After cycling the switch a few times, RED remained on. I re-flowed the pads for the switch and now I can wiggle/tap on it all I want and the RED remains constant. Here are a couple pictures. The culprit and the end result...Time for bed now. Been a long day.
