Lonnie Martin-unfortunately I found today I owe you a half mile more for 4. Will do it tomorrow. To all who shared my achievement I stand before you humbled. Today I rode up and down my street (to the consternation of my neighbors I am sure until I was able to get my speedometer to turn over right in front of my house. So I could accurately measure my walk/race/practice distances. I walked towards Shell Island Resort at the end of South Lumina (where I worked for 8 years as an exec. sous chef) and was able to accurately measure a 4 mile distance -2 miles there and 2 back. A 2 mile distance-1 out and 1 back to house. Going the way I went on the 3rd I measured accurately 4 miles-2out/2 back...2 miles-1 out/1 back and 1 mile distance (a lucky guess that turned out right) to the Methodist Church 1/2 mile out and 1/2 mile back. My car doesnt have the miles broken down into tenths as they all were at one time-12345.8 (Twelve thousand three hundred forty five and 8 tenths) Will take the Lumina road more as I call it the scenic route as it runs parallel to the ocean-blocked by homes on beach side but the marsh on the other side - open about half way with no houses. Again I am humbled and will finish tomorrow my 4. No slacker here. But have to say it took me 2 days to get over -not my hip though I crack (sounds like frying something but the pops arent so fast-4 or 5 cracks where it was usually 1 but my knees hurt) must have been my new way of walking with my cane-may need to adjust it closer to the regular way I walk and also need to find a pace I can maintain-think I was going slow at first but still should have been slower with smaller steps. Im figuring it out. This coming week maybe 3 Monday morning and Wed morning with the Y on Tuesday and Thursday. Ask my trainer if he has any experience or knows if one of the other trainers has some experience with distance cane walkers. BTW got 2 encouragement messages from Misty when I said that part that if Misty could do it so can I. Pretty cool-said she hoped to one day meet me at a Spartan Race. Later Boss. Uncle Buz
