Look. I havent been to D*Con in years. I dont want to be a Debbie Downer. Really I dont. But now we know what the 10th Floor of the Marriott is being reserved for: A lounge. The official blurb: Anyone here cosplaying at DragonCon? If so, Riot Games will be hosting a Cospitality Lounge on the 10th Floor Atrium of the Marriott similar to what we had this year at PAX East. Feel free to stop by to make repairs on costumes, grab a water to keep you hydrated or to simply relax and chat with us. No cameras will be allowed so its also an excellent escape to get away from the chaos of the convention floors. This is not just for League of Legends Cosplayers but open to any and all Cosplayers. So share the news with your fellow DragonCon attendees. We hope to see you there. Im all for mixing things up in new and interesting ways. Change isnt always bad. But change should mean improvement. D*C has had a hospitality suite for years. More importantly, the value of this isnt greater than the value of whats being replaced. Are they going to have repair supplies? Are the refreshments going to be amazing? Who knows. Theyre making an earnest attempt and maybe it will be friggin cool. It just seems like theyre taking a space that people can use in valuable and transformative ways...that they can basically customize...and youve replaced it with another lounge. All I can say is Robin Williams and Lauren Bacall had better be handing out the waters.
