Looking for: Database Specialist Position Summary The Developer is responsible for the design and development of user friendly, high quality, modern, enterprise grade applications that meet all user requirements and relevant standards and guidelines. The Data Specialist will be expected to have an overall knowledge of development along with a deep knowledge of data and how best to design and develop data related solutions. This will be achieved primarily by maintaining an up to date knowledge of database platforms and features, data trends, methods and tools for manipulating, storing and transferring data. Critical Accountabilities: • Data related design, including but not limited to data warehousing, ETL, reporting and querying • Maintenance of technical knowledge in SQL Server features and best practises for data storage, security, manipulation, reporting and transference • Developing and monitoring adherence to data standards • Design and development of software Key Areas of Accountability Role specific • Transforming ideas and requirements into appropriate data related architectures utilising best practise in the areas of data warehousing, reporting, etc • Continuously researching and maintaining an up to date knowledge of trends, tools, methodologies and best practices in the areas of data design and development • Ensuring standards, tools and processes exist and are being utilised to improve performance, security and quality of solutions with the end goal of improving user productivity • Proactively identifying and communicating opportunities to improve the quality, performance, usability, flexibility or reusability of solutions • Providing realistic impact summaries and development estimates for proposed solutions • Ensuring requirements contain the required level of detail to be able to design a high quality solution • Ensuring all solution designs result in modern, enterprise standard applications • Performing development, testing, reviews, maintenance and support tasks as required • Collaboration with other teams within Coffey as required to ensure seamless solution delivery to the end user • Sharing knowledge and advocating data architecture with team members and other interested parties Experience Essential • At least 5 years experience in a software engineering role • Advanced level of competency in Microsoft technologies, including but not limited to .NET, TFS, SQL Server, etc • Advanced level of competency in implementing applications using multiple versions of Microsoft SQL Server, including but not limited to 2008 R2 and 2012 • Advanced level of competency in SSRS, SSIS and SSAS • Advanced level of competency in the design and development of complex database applications and reporting suites • Advanced level of data analysis skills, involving such domains as statistics production, prediction or optimization. • Experience in designing and developing data warehouses • Experience in optimising large data sets to improve query performance. • Proven commitment to personal improvement outside the work environment Advantage • Experience with database systems other than SQL Server • Knowledge of and experience applying data testing methodologies • Experience utilising an agile or iterative development model • Experience developing and/or implementing standards, processes or best practises • Experience within global and regionally dispersed businesses • Experience working on multiple projects concurrently • Professional services or consulting engineering industry experience
