Lt Morrison: What were you thinking, Detective? Rick: I’m sorry Lt Morrison: You should be. You put two teenagers’ lives in danger. Rick: I know. I just couldn’t leave this one up to child welfare. You know how they operate. Lt Morrison: Yes, I understand where you’re coming from with that, but if you would have come to me first, we could have figured this out together. We could have covered our asses. I don’t even know how to begin to clean up this mess you’ve created. Jamaica: Um, Lieutenant I think I have an idea. No one really knows what happen but us. We have a report on Sarah and everyone saw Benzo with her father when he came to pick her up, and we’ve had a case opened on him since before any of us joined the force. We could say that while Sarah was here we convinced her to cooperate and testify against Benzo but shit got to hot and we had to pull her out and hide her. Lt Morrison: She didn’t have a parent present when we talked to her. It won’t work. Rick: We get Russell involved. Jamaica: He is not gonna want to do that. Rick: He might. That day when Sarah came in here looking for you Russell and Benzo came in looking for her. There was something in his eyes that said he was just as tired of this as Sarah was. It won’t hurt to ask. Lt Morrison: Ok go see if you can find the dad. Rick was right about Russell. Things were getting to be too much for him. He was sober that first day he came pick Sarah up from the precinct, and realized what he had done. But he was in too deep. He had tried numerous times to get Benzo to renegotiate their deal but to no avail. He decided to take a trip to the police station and tell them everything. He knew that Detectives Sanchez and Stephens had helped his daughter. He could only hope they would do the same for him. When Rick and Jamaica got to Russell’s apartment he was gone. They went over to Benzo’s to see if he was there, but no one had seen him. This made Benzo suspicious. He decided to do away with Russell. Rick called Sarah and filled her in on what they were doing. He asked her if she knew where her father would be at, but she couldn’t help them. Usually if he wasn’t home he was out getting high. Rick and Jamaica split up to continue to look for him. Sarah began to worry about her father. With her gone his debt might be reinstated and if he couldn’t pay they would hurt him. She puts on Ricks hooded jacket one of his baseball caps and his sunglasses and walks out of the hotel room. She got on a bus and headed back to the city.
