Lunchtime Recordings Episode #57 (Saturday, November 22, 2014) For the Love of Money is the Root of all Evil (Conclusion) youtu.be/o-zDc8SK3FU For the Love of Money is the Root of all Evil (Conclusion) In the very first lesson in this series we learned that prosperity and wisdom was a recurring theme amongst the Old Testament Heroes, Leaders and prominent figures. Sure, there was some initial struggle: Abraham, then called Abram, lost his wife to the Pharaoh in Egypt, but later left that situation with much wealth. Then Issac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses - he commits murder and then ends up leading the Israelites out of Egypt. Joshua, Samson, Samuel, Saul, David, Elijah, Jonah, Daniel in the Lions Den.. and on and on.. Oh, and Job too.. WoW! He sure had to endure a lot. However, God gave him double what he had at the outset. If you turn the pages a bit, we end up in the New Testament, where a completely new concept is taking shape. Here, wealth is not looked upon favorably. I mean, Jesus literally kicked down doors, tossed tables and kicked folks out of the temple because they were trying to make money. It was probably people selling soaps, lotions and potions.. guarantee you it was a MLM. And thats why we get a bad rap. haha.. Only those involved in MLM will find the humor in this... Seriously.. the New Testament talks more about helping the poor and giving in accordance with the blessings that have been given to you. Money is to be used as a resource to help others. It is to be used responsibly. And it is to be understood that the more we give, the more God will give us in return. Let me throw in a quick business lesson for you. Giving in the name of Jesus is the best ROI (Return on Investment) that you could ever hope for.. for no one has ever become poor by giving. (Anne Frank) Because giving begins the receiving process (Jim Rohn). A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over into your lap...(Luke 6:38). Giving is Good! As a business person and soon to be million dollar earner, should God deem me responsible enough to handle it, this is one of the most valuable lessons to learn. And its good to learn this lesson while the bank account is quite depressing as opposed to learning it after earning millions. Even if youre not into business or have no desire to earn massive wealth, its important to note that you have a responsibility to handle what you have been given. To make smart decisions with that money. To pay your bills on time. To give to the church and to help others when in need. Bottom-line, we all pretty much have the same responsibilities, but the amount of wealth God gives us will determine the scale or degree at which we are able to impact others. Because the alternative is not good...
