Lynyrd Skynyrd originally taped their first demo LP at Muscle Shoals in 1971. I actually saw them in Cleveland in 72 with my bud Craig Nazor at some well known bar on West 25th in Cleveburg. They finally hit with a few tracks from the original demo re-recorded for Columbia Records, in 74. Here is their classic anthem, Sweet Home Alabama. Its got a famous line in it about Muscle Shoals - Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers/And theyve been known to pick a song or two. It was in reference to the studio sidemen who made up the Muscle Shoals rhythm section. Memorializing them for all time.
