MANIFESTO!MANIFESTO!! SS. Ajibola © AN OFFER TO SERVE“Only a life lived in the service of others is alife worth living – Albert Einstein”I believe in equality. I believe in freedom. Ibelieve equity and fairness should be aneveryday affair regardless of status or clime.I believe in Education; I believe in a balanced society. I believe that together, we could make Kwara State better.I believe in YOU! I believe in ME!“Clarity is power”In my years in public service as a Senator, Ihave maintained the SSA strategy which is;S – SimplicityS – ServiceA – AccountabilityThis has driven me to achieve set goals bothin my legislative duties and service to myconstituents. As a result, I have beenmandated to serve four (4) terms – three (3)of which came to realisation. In this period, numerous projects which will be presentedhave been started and completed. FromWater, power and road projects, my constituents have enjoyed the benefits of SERVICE. Various empowerment programs ranging from financial to material have beenput in place on a periodic basis to ensuresatisfactory coverage throughout the KwaraSouth Senatorial District. My offer to serve is borne out of the obvious disenfranchisement being experienced byKwarans. A few have detained the resourcesof our dear state and drive only policies thatdo not favour the good people of KwaraState. My goal is to change this.In sum, winning freedom for citizens ofKwara is worth fighting for; and everyoneand institution has a role to play to achieve greatness. When you create an environmentto unleash human potentials; great things happen .If the good people of Kwara State want a servant who will serve them as a Governor and make life better for every Kwaran, I offer myself to the service of Kwara State. In 2015 as we go to the polls, be the changeyou wish to see in our dear state. Say No tothe same old order disguising as change.Speak out! For, we all need a voice and the time is now– stand up and be counted!God bless you and God bless Kwara State. MY VISION Where there is no vision the people perish. Agood leader has the vision and conviction that a dream can be achieved the powerwillingness and energy to get it done. “vision is the ability to see the end from the beginning – Myles Munroe”The challenge we face today is that of decision making on the future of Kwarastate which we need to be decisive. It is notjust enough to reject or say “No” to an existing order you must have the gut to sayit and back it up with action. My vision for the good people of Kwara state MY MISSION My mission is to primarily rescue Kwarastate from the long years of underdevelopment caused by the mismanagement and misuse of public funds. We will go about this by transparently managing public funds for a rapid human capital and infrastructural develop mentacross the state. In the quest to achieve this, we will value and consider the opinions of Kwarans onhow they want to be governed. MANIFESTO1. EducationEducation is the bedrock of any modern society. Our administration will prioritize the education of Kwarans, by providing conducive environment for learning acrossthe three levels of education (Primary,Secondary and Tertiary). My efforts as asenator representing Kwara south in the construction of additional blocks of classroom across my senatorial district is aclear indication of my passion and interestin developing the educational sectors. Wewill ensure all public schools in Kwara willhave a modest learning environment for our children to learn in.Another challenge facing the educationsector in Kwara is the lack of qualitative teachers and the lack of will or motivationfor these teachers to teach in the rural areaswhere education is most needed. Ouradministration will solve this problem by simply training and re-training these teachers in the first place and by reviewing the emoluments of our teachers to motivate them to give their best in teaching/moulding teachers for our future leaders. After this is done the disciplinary system/measure for absconding teachers will betightened up to address the present situation of absenteeism in the rural areas. It is very important that we educate asmany that are willing and ready to learn. Therefore financial constraints of parents/guardians should not deter anyone fromgetting educated. The cost of education atthe primary and secondary level will bereviewed downwards under our administration to make it truly affordablefor all. On the tertiary level, the BursaryAssistance to will be reinvigorated to assistall Kwarans in the tertiary educationalsystem.2. Health (Ilera loro)The Yorubas have a say that “ilera” whichsimply means health is wealth. Kwaransneed to be health for them to productive. The inadequacy in the health sector in KwaraState is majorly in the Rural Areas where thehealth care system and infrastructure havetotally broken down. The previoussuccessive governments have conspicuouslyneglected the rural areas in healthcareinfrastructure provision. Most the healthcenters and clinics are in dilapidatedconditions without healthcare professionals(Doctors, Nurse, and Midwives) to attend toailing Kwarans. This development is mostunfortunate and unacceptable. Our administration will expediently addressthis decay in Rural Healthcare provision bybuilding model healthcare centers across thestate to be manned by qualified healthcareprofessionals. We will rehabilitate theexisting (dysfunctional) ones and employcapable hands to man them to attend topatient promptly and effectively. Our goal will be to reduce maternalmortality rate in the state and we willachieve this by embarking on targetedemployment of midwives to be deployed toRural Areas where they are most needed.Polio vaccination programme will also berevamped to make the hopes of polioeradication a reality in Kwara state andNigeria as a whole.3. AgricultureThe ultimate goal of our administration willbe to commercialize agriculture i.e.to makeit more profitable more than ever before. This will employment opportunities for the teeming population of Kwarans and alsoreverse the Rural to Urban Migration trendwhich is increasing the congestion andcrime rate in our cities. This requiresproviding the enabling environment forfarmers to excel. The following will bespecifics in our action plans in the quest toreinvigorating the agricultural sector:Agricultural Education programme: ourfarmers will be educated in their localitieson best agricultural practices that best suitthe nature of their farmland/environment toenable them get the best produce out of thefarm.Construction of Irrigation system andcreation of farming zone/ clusters: our administration will construct irrigationsystems on every Existing dams in Kwara state to provide anall year round farming for our farmers.Farmers will also be encouraged to formclusters around this irrigation system. Thesefarming zones will be provided with accessroad for transporting the farm produce tothe market for sale and distribution.Revolving Micro Credit Scheme / Fund for Small scale farmers:our farmers will beassisted with Micro Credit Facility to purchase seeds Poultry equipment, and fishfarming etc. Provision of genetically improved seeds and subsidized fertilizers to our farmer across the state 4.Infrastructural Development Infrastructural development is the catalyst for the economic emancipation and growthof any society. Kwara state has been lacking behind in rural infrastructural developmentfor years now. Rapid Rural infrastructural development will be given priority acrossthe three senatorial district of the state. Wemust acknowledge the reality of dwindling funds to the state and competing needs forthe scarce resources. Regardless of this, our administration will prioritize the list of theneeded infrastructure across the state andwill attend to them in the right order. The good people of Kwara State will also becarried along in the prioritization process. 5. Civil Service We will effect appropriate reforms in thecivil service in order to enhance productivityof the service. There is no doubt that thecivil service is the engine room ofGovernment and the reforms to be carriedout in the service will be for the sole aim of making Government work better for thepeople of the State. The reforms will be inthe areas of civil service values such as:Professional values:serving with competence, efficiencyObjectivity and impartially Ethical values:upholding always the publictrust.People values: Demonstrating respect, fairness and courtesy in dealing with bothcitizens and fellow public servant.Capacity building: training welfare, ethics, integrity towards general service deliveryand improvement. 6. Local Government Autonomy For over a decade now, Local Government Administrations have been crippled by successive government. This developmenthas contributed to the non-existing economic activities in our various Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state. This has also contributed to the Rural to Urbanmigration, thereby leaving our LGAs under-populated and the urban areas over-populated.Our administration will ensure LGAs get their direct allocation as released by the Federal Government and then monitor for judicious and prudent use for thedevelopment of the respective LGAs. This will in no time provide economic activities ineach locally and also enable developmental projects/programme reach the rural areas quicker 7. SportSport competition and programme will be designed across the state to discover andbuild raw (natural) talents of our youth population. Sporting facilities will be built inour schools to encourage our students andyouths to participate in sporting activities. 8. Culture & Tourism Development of existing tourist sites and promotion of our cultural patrimony Festival, Music etc so as to make Kwara a tourism destination for local and international tourists thus taking advantage of Ilorin International Airport and the access roads toKwara from the North, West and South. This development will also contribute to the GDP of the state as tourist will come into thestate and spend some money in staying inhotels, purchasing creative arts & souveniritems, patronizing the local sellers etc.9. Social Welfare Program We will initiate a robust social welfare programme to take care of the elderly, theless privilege and handicap men and womenin our society Finally, I wish to assure my fellow Kwaransthat surely there is hope for a greater and better Kwara regardless of the years of mismanagement of public funds and badgovernance. A vote for Ajibola 2015 is a vote for all of the above and so many more great programs. Above all, ours will be atransparent government where Kwarans will for the first time know how much comesinto the state coffers and how every bit of it was expended. Thanks You and God Bless.PDP – POWER TO THE PEOPLEPDP – POWER TO THE PEOPLE PDP – FREEDOM FOR KWARALONG LIVE KWARA STATE!!!LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA!!!
