MARGARET HODGE says that her failure to investigate allegations of child abuse when she was the leader of Islington council in north London was “the biggest mistake of my life”. Hodge, now chairwoman of the public accounts committee, admitted that her rejection of the victims’ claims could jeopardise her chances of becoming mayor of London in 2016. The former minister had ignored claims of abuse at children’s homes run by Islington council in the 1980s and 1990s. When she became children’s minister in 2003 she said Demetrious Panton, a victim who repeated his allegations, was “an extremely disturbed person”. In an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, Hodge said: “The professionals said these allegations were false, but we didn’t listen to the voices of the children and obviously we should of done On this link we explore her continuous failures for child abuse and how she even campaigned with the notorious pro-paedophile group P.I.E (paedophile information exchange)
