MATTER ARISING As the general election is approaching all - TopicsExpress

MATTER ARISING As the general election is approaching all kinds of campaign is on and people are expressing all manners of sentiments to curry favor for their prefer candidates. At time logic is completely annihilated from some campaign sentiments. One of such sentiments that is popular in Ogun state is the need to return Amosun to office so that he can complete the road projects that hes executing all over the places. The first question that I ask those who are coming with this sentiment is, where is the position of continuum in government? Now let us coming to the real issue on these road project. I can tell you without missing words that Amosun government can not complete half of the roads in the next 4years. WHY I SAY THIS: let us take a look at the budget signed into law by Amosun himself for 2015. Assuming that the budget performs 100%, the total appropriation for roads in the budget is less than N20b (10% of the budget), what percentage of the roads will this do? If you repeat this for 4years it wouldnt have done more than 40% of the roads. Dont forget the best our budget ever done in terms of performance is about 60%. The claim that the governor is going to raise the IGR of the state to N10b per month is a fallacy. A cheap deceit and one of the many lies of Amosun to win sympathy from ignorance people in the society. What has he been able to put in place that will generate this IGR? I hope we all realize that there is limit to the extent which people can be taxed otherwise it will become double taxation. Amosun claimed to have increased the IGR of the state to about N6b per month, is there any proof to justify this claim? Let us ask him. SOLUTION: These roads were over invoiced in the first place, our roads on Ogun state rank among the most expensive in Africa. Prudence was grossly abused deliberately in the negotiation and award of those road contracts. Doing a kilometer of road at close to one billion naira is just too expensive for Ogun state. Therefore the only way to complete these roads within a reasonable time at reasonable amount that will not arm our state is for a new government to take over. The new government will first terminate all existing contracts and thereafter renegotiate the contracts for reasonable, and achievable prizes. Amosun is not in the position to do this because he will have no justification for downward review of the contracts, but a new government can easily do this. LAST LINE: dont be deceived, Amosun can not and he will not finish those roads. Go to Osun state, all the contractors that went to sites towards the last governorship election in Osun have since returned to their offices. In Lagos, how can you rate second term performances of Fasola? Try Edo state and see how woefully Adams is performing during this his second term. Amosun can not be different. He wont do any better than he has done. Remember if you think devil is a liar, when you listen to Amosun you will know that devil is a learner. The only alternative
