MONDAY EVENING UPDATE: A cold front and rain showers have moved - TopicsExpress

MONDAY EVENING UPDATE: A cold front and rain showers have moved through the area. You can expect much colder conditions tonight with lows near 25. Tomorrow highs will struggle to hit 32 degrees. We have a real struggle on hand for Tuesday night into Wednesday. We do have an injection of Arctic air with this frontal boundary, but a warm front will move through early Wednesday morning. Current model guidance trends warmer aloft, which makes a major difference in precipitation type. I expect snow to start between 2PM and sundown. Snow accumulations during the day will be minor at best. Precipitation will continue through Tuesday night into Wednesday. Pockets of cold air in the higher elevations/areas north and west may cause mixed precipitation (sleet, snow, freezing rain). Everyone will rise above freezing by early Wednesday morning. This is the kind of storm that will cause slick travel for the morning commute-- a nuisance system more for timing than anything else. A cold front will push through Wednesday afternoon or evening, and drier air will move into the area. The next system will impact the area over the weekend in the form of a rainstorm (centered Friday night/Saturday) Predictions for Tuesday night/Wednesday storm: Snow/sleet: 0-2” (highest accumulations north and west) Total Ice Accrual: 0.00 to 0.10 (again, highest accumulation north and west) Total rain: .10-.50 (highest amounts south and east; urban locations) - MB
