MORNING VERSES: 1 Peter 1:22 KJV Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: ROLAND KLINE John 1:12-13 KJV But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. EVENING VERSES: 1 Corinthians 7:31 KJV ...for the fashion of this world passeth away. INSIGHT: This often repeated theme in the New Testament and from the lips of Jesus should be the great reminder that we shouldnt spend our lives working for what is temporary. PRAYER: Lord God Almighty, the Alpha and the Omega, the Eternal I Am, thank you for being what everything else in the world cannot be. Please awaken my heart to things of eternal significance and open my eyes so I can see through the things that are transitory. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. ROLAND KLINE Luke 21:1-4 KJV And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.Insight This widow gave all she had to live on, in contrast to the way most of us handle our money. When we consider giving a certain percentage of our income a great accomplishment, we resemble those who gave “a tiny part of their surplus.” Here, Jesus was admiring generous and sacrificial giving. Challenge As believers, we should consider increasing our giving—whether of money, time, or talents—to a point beyond convenience or safety.
