MP appeals for calm after court sacking By Freddy Mou Dec 2, 2014. PNG Loop Sacked Samarai-Murua MP Gordon Wesley has called on his supporters in Milne Bay Province to stay calm and accept the court decision while his lawyers are working to review that decision. In a media conference today, Mr Wesley said he respected the decision of the court and urged his supporters to also respect the decision and allow due process to take its course. “In the meantime my lawyers are now reviewing the decision and they will advise what legal avenues are available. “I appeal to all the people of Samarai-Murua to remain calm and respect the rule of law.” Mr Wesley was serving his third term as an MP until the court declared his victory null and void. He was also serving as the deputy Speaker of Parliament when the decision was made to nullified his victory. In a 17 page judgement last Saturday, Justice Ere Kariko made the ruling at the National Court in Alotau, Milne Bay Province where he found Mr Wesley guilty of one of five bribery allegations levelled against him in an election petition filed by runner-up Isi Henry Leonard. ‹ pngloop/2014/12/02/mp-appeals-calm-court-sacking/#sthash.KOP3JFfp.dpuf
