MSV Life League – Div 1 Week 11 by Liliana Said. Royal Shock strengthened their flight with the top this week consolidating an 8-0 win over Gladiators. The Shockers had no trouble whatsoever winning this encounter as they faced a deflated Gladiators, which was the only team that could not even register a meagre 2000 series. Royal Shock bowlers played consistent games, peaking in game 2 with a good 815 and won the overall by a massive 318 pins. They are hanging on to the 4th place tenaciously. The match between MIA vs HEP 02 ended in a 6-2 win in favour of the latter. MIA started with a decent 730 and managed to pick up the first 2 points, but it all went downhill for them as they registered low 689 and 678 games against HEPO’s 736 and 713. The latter are comfortably in 5th position, while MIA remain in the penultimate position, but inched 2 points closer to safety. St. James Hospital stood no chance against Ramis who were the best team this week with a good 2514 series with Joanna and Mark being the top bowlers of the week. SJH bowled decent, consistent games but Ramis pounded them to take full points winning the overall by a colossal 335 pins and prove to everyone that they are a team to reckon with. Moving closer to the 2nd spot they are still 10 points shy of the top position. Fina also had no opposition from Turu’s Knights. Fina bowled well and had the second highest series of the night at 2381. Turu’s on the other hand were only average, tipping low in the last game with a poor 686 game. For Fina, Justin and Kenneth gave a boost to the team and ensured 8 points under their belt to strengthen their position as the leaders of the table and are now 8 points clear of okmalta The last match was between okmalta and Bowlers on Strike with the former winning 6-2. BOS started with a bad 699 and okmalta easily won the game 794. If they thought they had it easy, they were wrong however as a series of splits saw them slumber and BOS pounced on the opportunity to win the 2nd game 748-735. All was fair and square in the last match. BOS were some 100 pins over OK, but a couple of splits for the former and a series of strikes from the latter levelled the game. Mauro picked up a difficult 6-9-10-4-7 split to keep ok’s chances high. It was really down to the last frame as Neil hit a 7 and only needed 2 pins to ensure victory, and sparing with ease he clinched the game by a solitary pin. Bowlers of the week: Mark Spiteri (Fina – 691) and Joanna Attard (595) 1. Fina – 74 2. Okmalta – 66 3. Ramis – 64 4. Royal Shock – 60 5. HEP 02 – 50 6. Turu’s – 42 7. BOS – 32 8. Gladiators – 20 9.
