MSV Life National League: Div 2 – Week 5 by Liliana Said After a 3 week absence most of the bowlers were raring to go. 4 of the 5 encounters ended in a 8-0 win while Touch of Class vs Ready Steady Bowl ended in a 6-2 in favour of the former. The Clan won full points against a depleted BOV who had the worst series of the night at just 1848. The Clan had a bad 1st game but with a 677 still managed to beat their opponents by 96 pins! Game 2 saw a slight improvement with a 709 vs 627 and then, they came with a bang in game 3 playing a very good 799 and the highest game of the week. The Clan are in the top spot with a 4 point advantage against 2nd place. Vintage were very unlucky to lose all points against XS and all matches were very close. XS snatched the 1st match by 2 pins, the 2nd game by 36 pins and the last game by 9 pins, to ensure 2nd place with 34 points, and 6 points clear of 3rd place. Sara Xuereb at just 12 years was the star of this encounter with a good 515 scratch series topping over much older competitors :) As opposed to their counterparts, Bank of Valletta won all 8 points against Atlas Insurance. Game 1 was close with just an 11 pin margin, but Bank of Valletta easily prevailed over Atlas and at the moment are in the 3rd spot jointly with Blitzkrieg but with lower pinfall. Blitzkrieg was the best team of the night with a 2228 handicap series. They were never in any danger of losing points playing consistently with all 3 games over the 700 and saving enough pinfall to supersede over. Touch of Class emerged as the winners against Ready Steady Bowl, the latter anchored at the bottom with only 4 points out of a possible 40! TOC started with a good 742 against RSB’s 612 but the latter then improved considerably and won the 2nd match 719-633. The last game was very close but TOC managed to pinch a win by just 3 pins.
