MSV Life Trios Div 3 – Wk 4 by Liliana Said Week 4 saw Pin Pulse beating The Degens 6-2 in what was to be the closest match of the night. The Degens played the 3rd best series of the week, but unfortunately for them they had to play against the 2nd best series. They started with a good 533, but Pin Pulse beat them to it by 4 pins. They tried harder during the 2nd game and upped their score to 556, but once again Pin Pulse rose to the occasion and bowled a 583 which was the highest game of the night. The Degens would not give up though and with a last effort bowled a 516 against Pin Pulse’s 507 to at least take 2 points. The latter stand firmly in 2nd place 3 points under the top spot. CPA’s finally won 2 points and showed everyone they can bowl. Balls of Steel took the opening game 526-475. During the 2nd match however, they let down their guard and CPA’s took advantage of the situation to steal their thunder by a solitary pin bowling a good 505 against BOS 504. This proved to be a wake-up call for the youths however, as they bowled a good 540 and managed to win 6-2. This win did nothing however to improve their position from 6th place. Surprisingly One4All lost all 8 points against a mighty Mean Machine. One4all were the 2nd lowest team of the weak at 1418, while Mean Machine bowled the highest Series at 1638. There was no resistance whatsoever as none of the One4All players managed to bowl over 400, while Mean Machine’s players were consistent, with Joshua playing a sound 496 series. At the end MM won the overall by a staggering 220 pins and have now advanced from 6th to 3rd place, while One4All has dipped to 4th. Pin Strikers seem to like a bit of drama as for the 2nd time in 4 weeks, they won 7-1, which is quite a rare score! Still Around saw the return of Anna Dalli who had been absent from the bowling scene for quite some time now. The first match was a thriller. As Anna had no handicap yet, the youths had to budget 40 extra pins for it. With 39 pins over, all Jonathan had to do was pick up the 5 pin in the 11th frame, which he did with ease to salvage at least one point. There was no threat for Pin Strikers however in the preceding two games as they easily won them 565-459 and 504-426. With this win Pin Strikers retained the top spot of Div 3. Bowlers of the week: Kyle Burke (Balls of Steel – 508) and Doris Zammit (Pin Pulse – 464) 1. Pin Strikers – 28 2. Pin Pulse – 25 3. Mean Machine – 16 4. One4All – 16 5. The Degens – 15 6. Balls of Steel - 14 7. Still Around – 12 8. CPA’s - 2
