MUCH COLDER DAY TODAY! Good morning everyone. We have much colder conditions on the cards today thanks to a strong cold southwest flow affecting the region. In-fact, 20 minutes ago a pretty intense hail shower moved over parts of Christchurch City. The main feature today will be the wind, which may be a bit of a shock to the system, as it is quite a contrast to the weather of late! Expect a period of more sustained rain for a time early this morning north of Waipara, which shouldnt last too long. Further south, the odd shower this morning (chance heavy) with fine spells in the mix too. Areas south of the Rakaia are likely to remain dry. Strong cold south to southwest winds lasting throughout the day, especially about the coast. We expect the winds to gradually die out from later this evening. Temperatures will only reach around 11-12 degrees today, with overnight lows around 2-3 degrees. Ensure you have warm clothing on if you are going to be outside today!
