Made it back last night about 9PM from Maggie Valley, NC. Left Maggie Valley, and rode the Blue Ridge Parkway till Mile Marker 0 near Waynesboro, VA. Riding the BRP in the morning for the first 250 miles in heavy fog and rain, made for shall we say a "dynamic" experience. Discovered riding into a fog filled tunnel is better than Starbucks for perking one up in the morning. Really wish I had a picture of that, very funky feeling in a curving unlit tunnel when you cannot see the tunnel walls but only a real short bit of the center lane stripe from your headlight. Riding the BRP in constant rain/heavy fog for 250 miles is not the smartest thing, but still more interesting ride than the interstate, and no cars to deal (cause they were all smarter than me?). Anyways once at the VA border the sun broke out strong and it was a pleasant, fun, journey the rest of the way back to BRP MM 0. On the final stretch, riding through the DC beltway area reconfirmed our decision to move west of the DC/Baltimore area. Had a great trip overall, got to check in with old friends, and made a couple of new ones. Spread with gospel of Motomarathon with the Roadrunner Editorial Crew (Christa and Florian), and in an awkward moment, guaranteed myself a spot in the Leisure-17 touring group next year instead of Sport-Touring 2. Looking forward to next years rally.
