Mah essay ~~ All action is motivated by passion of fear or of love. Where happiness is by love, anger is by fear. When Nahko realizes that his anger and actions were ruining his life, he decided that he needed to embark on a spirit quest to find and overcome the source of his troubles. He never knew just how much his perspective in life would change. So how would one direct their passion and intent from love instead of fear? Nahko had always felt passionate and had a crutch of anger when things did not turn out how they should’ve. He had anger issues and with his parents he always seemed to burst out with anger when he hadn’t changed anything. He would often leave and go with his close friend or to the outer part of the city near the trees and river to take his mind off things. His close friend eventually stopped talking to him because his anger became a conflicting factor of their relationship. This drove him to confusion, and despite the stress that came over him, he was passionate to make things better, change his ways, and reevaluate his life. Nahko wandered the outskirts of the city all day and came to a faint trail leading out into the wilderness. He followed the trail until the sun set and he could no longer see the path in the dark. He laid down in a patch of grass to sleep until morning to head back, but when he woke he had no idea where he was or which way he came from. Aimlessly, he walked throught the open forest until he came upon a camp with an old man making tea. When Nahko asked for the way back to town, the old man said, “You did not come all this way to walk back through your past. You brought yourself here to change your ways, focus your intent and find yourself.” As though he was some kind of psychic. Nahko was insulted, this old man knew nothing of his life or how he was lost, he had only just talked to him. Nevertheless, the old man seemed to know something. Look, I just need directions back to town. ,Nako was growing frustrated. You must continue your journey and find yourself, only then will you truly find your way. ,the old man said plainly. What do you mean? ,Nahko asked. I will go with you, show you the land but only you will find yourself and the direction you seek to go. ,was all the old man replied. Nahko didnt like this idea but he knew things really couldnt get any worse, so he tagged along. Maybe the man would lead him to a way out of The forest. As they walked through the wilderness, day after day the old man learns more of Nahko and Nahko learn more of the old wise man. The w man came to learn of Nahkos anger issues and concluded that he was not all that off in angry person after all. The wise man was on spirit journey himself but one a bit more elaborate than of Nahkos, but of a same passion. As the wise man shared with Nahko how to live off the land, Nahko began to knowledge his powerfull passion for social completion and spiritual connection. He asked about How to have positive influence in his life and how to cope with different issues. The man only told him of his experiences and how he used his own passion to help others cope with there tragedies and overcome some of their psychological barriers. The man seemed to be focused just on his own connection in the wilderness, Nahko admired this about him and begin to not only connect with his own passion and purpose, but also learned values that the old wise man used in his life. At night, when they patched up camp and ate supper, he would tell Nahko more of his stories and of his younger days when he had trouble dealing with emotions. He was convinced that showing emotions was a sign of weakness. In result, he lashed at everyone around him. It was then that Nahko realized the old wise man had been destined to be his mentor. He knew Nahko so well because that was him long ago, the man seemed perfectly content with his life too. This was Nahkos first experience of intuitive admiration. He was learning to take in the peace of the old man. He learned to live in the moment with his thoughts and emotions without regrets of the past, but learning from it and to not worry about the future, simply living in the present. Nahko was not directly talk any lessons from the old man but he certainly picked up on his intent and reevaluated his actions and his life through meditating in the weeks they spent wandering through the wilderness. His journey had shown him to have patience in finding himself, he learned to direct his passion of anger into purpose and positive thoughts. On the 26th night they sat on a cliff to gaze on the stars and enjoy the moment, then out in the distance, Nahko saw lights that he thought he recognized. The old man looked at him and smiled, have you finally found your way? Nahko got it now, Yeah he said with joy, I have found my way and now I know my way back home too. Nahko learned when one is ready to better their life, they can find their way by simply observing the actions of ones that is rather along similar journeys and embrace their passion. A wise man once told me that you cannot insist your own truth or view point, but you can help others learn their own truths and understandings. ~Jacob Barlow
