Maher is somewhat unique, both in that he does have a reasonable standard of intellectual honesty when debating, and in often taking very unexpected and unconventional positions regarding a host of issues. While I would fully disagree with him on 95% [if not more!] of his political stances, he does at least attempt to make cogent arguments to support his points of view, rather than merely trying to run roughshod over his opponents. Additionally, you cannot stereotypify Mahers stance on one thing based upon his take on another. Case in point is the following video clip wherein Maher decimates PBSs Charlie Rose vis a vis Mahers well articulated assertion concerning the intrinsic violence of Islam.
