Here are a few Facts about Public Housing they offer: Loss of units — There has been a reduction of about 140,000 public housing units in the 12-year period 1995 -2007.[iii] HUD data indicate that it approved removal (via demolition or “disposition”) of more than 210,000 units from the public housing stock between 1995 and 2007, of which 40,000 units remained at the end of 2007.[iv] (Units disposed of but not demolished may have been converted to vouchers or sold.)
