Malina has made great strides in the past 24 hours. When out for her walk yesterday she got her front feet up on the deck but could not step up with her back legs- she looked at me for help so I lifted her up. When we walk outside I stay about 5 steps behind. I let her get a little further once and she looked at me like, c’mon, catch up! This morning she greeted me at the gate of her “room” with a full-on tail wag! She even nudged my hand for a pet . She’s now initiating interaction on her own- previously she would simply accept our pats, rubs and conversation with no response. For three days I have been leaving a bowl of dry kibble in her room. She never touches it until 1 am. Then she’ll eat ½ to 1 cup of kibble. The crunching sound always wakes us up. Lol. (She also gets 4 soft meals a day) It has been so easy to give her rx, vitamins and supplements in her food. I’m really thankful for that! I’ll continue to give “Mali” updates for the next day or two, after that just weekly progress notes and/or pics. Many were interested in her progress and facebook was the easiest way for me to share pics and info.
