Many have asked why I grew a beard...the answer is simple. It was in tribute to my father William Lessner. Initially it was to support him as he was to start chemotherapy. If he was going to lose his hair and beard, so was I. When he opted not to start chemo, I kept it to remind me to slow down and make every minute he had left count. He passed away in September 2013 so I kept the beard to show I am his son (I honestly never realized that I looked anything like him until I saw pics of us together). He gave me life, he gave me a name, he gave me a moral code, and he gave me love. Today is his birthday and though I miss him so much I still celebrate the 80 birthdays he had in this realm. Happy birthday Dad. When I look in the mirror I see the man I want to be because I see a part of you.
