Many of you know that Ive been doing my own research comparing Paleo to the Genotype diet and I really must say, Im not a fan of Paleo. What I have found is, while Paleo does promote the limited use of grains and vegetables, the star of the show and the main attraction at every meal is mostly red meats and fats which puts people at risk for kidney stones, long term risk of heart disease in addition to certain cancers. The American Cancer Societys guidelines tell us to eat a diet mostly made up of fruits, vegetables and grains and to limit consumption of red meats, especially those high in fat and processed. The Genotype diet is a much better choice as it promotes the liberal use of fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains. While speaking at my friends nutrition class at the community college last week, she shared an audio book with me called The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, PhD and Thomas M. Campbell ll. Dr. Campbell is Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University and Project Director of the China-Oxford-Cornell Diet and Health Project. Dr. Campbells work is showcased in this DVD, Forks Over Knives and can be seen on Netflix. If I had one wish, it would be that everyone in the world would take the time to watch it. Obesity and disease could be a thing of the past if we just learned how to nourish our wonderful bodies the way it was intended from the start. youtube/user/ForksOverKnives
