Many times they have persecuted me from my youth up. Let Israel now say, “Many times they have persecuted me from my youth up; yet they have not prevailed against me.” Psalm 129:2 Last night after VBS, we were looking at the world missions map. I showed everyone to look at how small Israel is and then look at how they are surrounded by much larger nations that want to destroy them. However, they cannot prevail against them. Throughout the history of Israel they have shown resilience. It comes from their ability to respond to persecution. One of the keys to having resilience is in our response to mistreatment. When we get mistreated we can respond with “poor me everyone is against me” or we can respond with “they will not prevail against me because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.” As Christians let us learn about resilience from Israel because today we are going to need it more than ever!
