Many years ago, in 800 AD, came a Bishop from England to the famous Hessen town of Fritzla in the heart of Germany. The peoples there about worship the great spirit they believed lived in an ancient, giant oak tree. Bishop Boniface preached the true light, but they paid no heed. Bishop put a keen edge on his axe, and on their worship day made his way through the throng of worshipers. He proclaimed he would chop their god down , The people listen not, but gave mouth and said their god would instead chop him down. When Boniface stroke the big oak with his axe, as in a miracle, a strong wind of a sudden came up, and blew the rotten, hollow tree down. Yea, said, Boniface these many years you sinners have worship an empty, hollow god--come, take the water, and walk in the mercy, the forgiveness, and the bright forever of God, The people were amazed and converted to Christianity. Bishop Boniface built a chapel dedicated to Saint Peter from the oaks wood. Boniface became the patron Saint of Germany Below are two pictures, a stature of him in old Fritzlar at a beautiful church, about 300 yards further on a picture of the old towns market place, the houses from 1400--1600 AD. I have a picture taken of the stature and myself in 2008---
