March 30 Sunday from 1pm-4pm Volunteer Opportunity: Need more volunteers to help about 400 families to consult during our Compassion Weekend. We are helping about 400 families of San Mateo county. This is a collaborative effort of the church, community, parents and schools near San Mateo. The event will be: Turnbull Community Festival, a project of Compassion Weekend Sunday March 30th, 9am-12pm (Festival set-up), 1pm-4pm (Festival), 4-5:30pm (Clean-up) FESTIVAL THEME: Health & Wellness ABOUT THE PROJECT: Located on the College Park Elementary School campus in San Mateo, Turnbull Child Development Center enrolls 300 preschool students, with nearly 70% coming from families that fall below the poverty level. Last year we had between 400-500 local families participate in a Reading and Literacy Fair with the bulk of representation of Latino and Asian Pacific Islander descent. This year the focus is on Health and Wellness. Join us in celebrating the diverse Turnbull community as we offer fun family workshops on health, wellness, fitness, and nutrition. In addition to providing free health screenings and sign-ups for health insurance, we will also paint a mural and give away free childrens books to families in the community! GET INVOLVED: For the remaining health screening booths, we are especially in need of doctors and nurses who can do diabetes screening and blood-glucose tests. The screening would be conducted on Sunday, March 30 from 1-4pm.
