Marcos impressed in his run to the US Open third round, eventually losing in four sets to Stanislas Wawrinka, who is now through to the quarter-finals against Andy Murray. On his return home, Marcos reflected on his performance at Flushing Meadows. “I really think that I played very well at the US Open,” said Marcos. “My first two rounds were great. I played some fantastic tennis, especially against [Kevin] Anderson. I felt that I played the same level like in the 2006 Australian Open."
