Mark Sibert writes: My recent letter to United - unfortunately I was limited by 2000 characters so couldnt go into more detail... YOU SUCK! I have just experienced raw incompetence the likes of which I have not seen in 25 years of air travel. You (United) have almost certainly lost all of my future business travel as a result. I was booked on the ill-fated flight from EWR>FRA. Everything seemed fine, and instructed to board the plane. Just as everyone is settled in (~30 minutes later) the pilot announces that theyre still waiting on a crew member! And he wont be there for TWO MORE HOURS! How is it possible they didnt know that before boarding the plane?!?! So then we de-plane and wait. And wait. And wait. Finally, about the time the mysterious crew member should have arrived, they cancel the flight altogether without any explanation. This was a business trip, so I called our travel desk to see what they could do. As it turns out, there was a flight leaving for London that would have gotten me to my final destination (Bangalore) only a few hours later than my original arrival time. I *RAN* to the gate, and got there as the last few people were boarding the plane. I explained I was on the canceled Frankfurt flight and had been rebooked on this flight. They wouldnt let me board because they couldnt transfer my bags in time. So now Im stranded in Newark. I go to the customer service desk to see about getting my checked bag. After waiting 15 min in line, they cant help me and refer me to the United baggage claim desk. I go there and Im told that no one on the plan is getting their bags! THEY REFUSED TO UNLOAD THE BAGS! What kind of customer service is that!?!?! Your sheer incompetence strands hundreds of customers overnight and you wont get their bags for them? YOU CHEAP BASTARDS!!!! Not to mention the surly attitude every United representative had - from the gate agents, to the customer service reps. Its pitiful. I have now lost an entire day of productivity thanks to your horrible airline and horrible service.
