Marriage: Gods will vs mans clause... We always get concerned - TopicsExpress

Marriage: Gods will vs mans clause... We always get concerned about the facial expression, height, physique and some other earthly factors in choosing a partner for marriage. Most times we state so clearly where the guy and lady must not hail from. As much as the phrase Gods will for me gets taunted by evangelicals, we still hide some clause in us? Is it unthinkable to pray Father, let your will done in my choice of man. But he must not be Hausa or Igbo? It is. Havent we submitted to His will but with an ultimatum? You dont have to verbalize all those vocabularies. We just pray for His will with the mouth, while we keep the clause in our hearts. Where is the boundary of Gods will in He must be a Yoruba, an Igbo, an engineer, a Doctor or must tall, dark and handsome? We are free to ask what we desire. But with the frequency with which we use the phrase Gods will, one cannot but ask whether were really committed to it. We often lay claim to Gods will in marriage even while we draw Him a line He shouldnt cross. How can say His will... while we say she must be tall. She must be fair in complexion. Ive heard a sister say He must be from Ekiti. Some faith professing mothers have said My daughter?! Marry a teacher? God forbid. We are so quick to say Gods will.. while discussing marriage. Where does Gods will end? Where does ours begin? Sometimes while discussing this on a platform like this, people throw some impression about themselves to hide from being labelled carnal, so they keep their clauses in them and put Gods will on their lips. My thoughts anyways...
