Matters of oppression are not black or white and will not be solved through calls of solidarity among racial lines and divisions. The call of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ is unity upon justice and mercy among all mankind (of all races and nations). Allah says, ﴾O mankind, verily, We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Verily, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Verily, Allah is knowing and aware.﴿ — Surat al-Hujurat, 49:13 The Prophet ﷺ said, ❝All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.❞ [Musnad 22978] The Prophet ﷺ also said, ❝He is not one of us who calls to tribalism. He is not one of us who fights for the sake of tribalism. He is not one of us who dies following the way of tribalism.❞ [Abu Dawud 5102] The Prophet ﷺ also said, ❝These lineages of yours do not make you superior to anyone. You are all sons of Adam. No one has superiority over another except in piety and consciousness. It is sufficient shame for one to be foul, evil, or stingy.❞ [Musnad 17351, Tabrani 14252] The Prophet ﷺ also said to a companion who used a racial slur, ❝You are a man in whom there is still some jahiliyah (ignorance)!❞ [Bukhari 50, Muslim 1661] The Prophet ﷺ also said, ❝Among my people there are four characteristics belonging to pre-Islamic time of ignorance which they do not abandon: boasting of high rank, reviling other peoples’ genealogies, seeking rain by stars, and walling. He also said: If the wailing woman does not repent before she dies, she’ll be made to stand on the Day of Resurrection wearing a garment of pitch and a chemise of mange.❞ [Muslim 934]
