Maxs quest to be a champion again became a reality on Saturday. Since the tragic car accident that took the life of Maxs friend, Jake Arntson, Max had been on a mission to win a flag football championship for Jake. A few years ago, Max and Jake won a football championship together, their first year of flag football. Last year, Maxs team held the #1 seed in the regular season; however, they had an off day in the championship game and lost. Max was heart-broken after the game. I told Max that Jake was still proud of him. This season, Maxs new team was the Seahawks. On Jamboree day, I had the privilege of filling in as coach. The Seahawks won both games and didnt give up a point on defense. My feeling was that Max had a good team and I was right. The Seahawks would go 7-0 in the regular season and earn the #1 seed in the playoffs. The Seahawks would dominate the Warriors in the first playoff game for 27-0 victory. Maxs Seahawks would face the another Seahawks team in the championship game. The other Seahawks would score first and take a 6-0 lead. Maxs Seahawks would respond and drive down the field to take 7-6 lead. In the 2nd half, the other Seahawks would retake the lead 12-7. Maxs Seahakws would respond again and drive down the field for the winning score 14-12. I want to thank Coaches Brad Senatra and Derick Callan for doing a wonderful job coaching the Seahawks and helping Max achieve his goal for Jake, a championship. A perfect season 9-0.
