May 19 - Apples of Gold Elijah did not hear God in the wind, the fire, or the earthquake, but he did hear Him—and powerfully—in the still, small voice. Scripture does exhort us to speak to each other in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. We do not praise and worship through someone else’s lips—only through our own. In some instances, it seems that worship has become a spectator sport. I believe a caution is in order, but you must be the judge of these things for yourself. And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. —1 Kings 19:11,12
