Maybe 30 years my mother informed me that we would be going to Orchestra Hall to see Aaron Copland, a living legend, conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as they perform selections from his work. At 8 or 9 years old, I didnt appreciate the experience as much as I do now, but this was only one of the many cultural events that my mom exposed us kids to in our youth. Tonight Im proud to say that Im beginning to return that favor to my mom for my own children. Kudos and thanks to the Lane Tech Alumni Association for getting Yo-Yo Ma to perform for FREE with the Chicago Civic Orchestra (CSOs minor league affiliate), in Lanes Auditorium.
