Maybe I Dont Like You Either was written in May of this year. Its style hearkens back to the music I wrote when I was just starting out as a songwriter. I had realized that, although I had grown as a lyric writer, I had lost my way in terms of my sound. This song was a big reminder to me that I started this for all the right reasons and it has become an instant favorite. Many people have asked me who this song is about. I hate to disappoint but Maybe I Dont Like You Either was actually written from a very general place. I got the idea from the way the media portrays high school and how many high schoolers behave as a result. In most movies, popularity is depicted as something that merits respect as well as fear. I think that a lot of the time, this depiction of popularity negatively changes the way we see ourselves and that just shouldnt be the case. The people Ive known who never bought into the hype, regardless of social standing, and remained true to themselves through it all have become the people I want to be like and I believe that they are the ones who merit respect. The goal of this song is to remind us all (including and especially me) that its never too late to be proud of who you are and let anyone who wants to make you feel like less of a person know that the feeling is most definitely mutual. ~ Kendra Celise
