Media and Communications Officer: Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development Trust (COTRAD) Deadline: 31 July 2014 (close of business) Station: Masvingo Effective Date: August 2014 Contract: 1 Year About COTRAD Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development Trust is youth oriented community based organization doing its programming in the district of Masvingo province. COTRAD Trust works with young people to forgo the ideal and priorities of young people through providing platforms for active and positive youth participation in the national discourse. COTRAD is in the process of initializing a new projects in Masvingo Province. It is through these projects that COTRAD requires a Media and Communications Officer who will forgo the following duties. Job summary The Media and Communications officer will primarily assist in the implementation of COTRAD media and communications work which includes program support communications, press relations, social media and electronic documentation Essential duties and responsibilities include the following but not limited to: Assist in updating COTRADs social media and website as directed including taking charge of the blogging requirements; Media monitoring of relevant young people’s related socioeconomic and political priorities, national policies that have an effect to the well being of young people, important governance and democratic developments and maintain database of all articles; Assist the Program Manager and Advocacy Officer in organizing media and communications support for COTRAD’s events and programs; Assist in the generation of programme support communications such as the production of press packs, press releases and articles; Generating and updating a media contacts database; Ensure that all opportunities for the CEO are fully vetted; Drive institutional strategy and message development, pitch and announcement of strategies; Develop branding initiatives, internal communications and external media relations; Determines communications strategy and execute programs to deliver communications objectives throughout the organization; Manage media relations and maximize media opportunities; Develop strong relationships with media reps; Develop delivery and packaging plans for organizational messages; Develop internal publications such as newsletters, releases, email announcements, planned publications, on-line, intranet, video, special projects and assignments; Ensure public views the organization favourably; Create and launch press releases and marketing campaigns; Contact members of the media to set up interviews with institutional management; Ensures COTRAD features on radio, TV, or the Internet; Ensure public views the organization favourably; Create and launch press releases and marketing campaigns; Contact members of the media to set up interviews with institutional management; Ensures COTRAD features on radio, TV, or the Internet.
