Meet Amanda Winn and her son Jaden! At the age of 8, Jaden decided that he wanted to help people for a living! Together, Amanda and Jaden are going to spend a year traveling throughout the United States doing something called voluntourism and theyve chosen Life Vest Inside as the organization they would most like to dedicate their time and support to through their efforts. Amanda is asking the LVI community to find and offer housing to her and her son so that they will arrive into new cities already feeling held and a part of that community. Pretty smart if you ask me. She wants this both so that she and Jaden will have the best possible experience, but, also, because she knows that if they start their work in a new city already connected to other LVI leaders and supporters, they will have the best possible chance to really make a difference with their efforts. Jaden and Amanda intend to begin their Kindness Journey right around September 15th (just about 6 weeks from now) and will travel over the next year to: • Missoula, Montana • Boulder, Colorado, • Miami, Florida • Santa Fe, New Mexico • Austin, Texas • New Orleans, Louisiana • Atlanta, Georgia • Chicago, Illinois • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania • Washington, DC • New York, New York To make this happen, whats most essential right now is to assist Amanda and Jaden in finding furnished private housing, ideally a cottage or mother-in-law unit for approximately 4-5 weeks in each city. Their needs would include laundry facilities, internet access and a place where Amanda can work, Jaden can complete his school assignments, and the two of them can rest and replenish to carry out the work for LVI that theyre committed to do. It is my and Amandas intention to work closely and collaboratively over the next year in how this extraordinary idea that shes had will be of the utmost benefit to Life Vest Inside and I appreciate whatever ideas resources you have to offer or can recommend.
