Meet Ava!!! Ava was diagnosed with an extramedullary plasmacytoma during a dental examination and cleaning. The tumor was located on the inside of her molars on her lower jaw - an easy place to miss. Thank goodness she had a great veterinarian that noted and biopsied the tumor. Following the biopsy and test looking for spread of tumor to other areas of the body, she was referred to Affiliated Veterinary Specialists Inc where a right sided central hemimandibulectomy was performed. This is a procedure that we used to remove the part of the lower jaw with the tumor and the teeth it was affected (premolars and the molar teeth). With complete removal, she should have a happy life without recurrence of the tumor or spread!!! Way to go Ava, you look great!!!
